Toilet Paper Andy

Often times months if not several weeks of planning will happen for a Worship Design and this time is no different.  When thinking of this sermon series that will be a Stewardship Focus, looking specifically at the five ministy areas of Spring Creek toilet paper Andy was developed.

Some ask, how did you come up with that?  Well, it literally just came to me one afternoon and with the help of many friends and friends of friends I started the collection of empty toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls.  I really had NO idea how many I would need so I just asked for A LOT and what did I get.....A LOT!  Boy did the community of friends out there help pitch in.  It was fun to collect them and hear all the comments and stories, wish I could post them all for you.

Within a two week period approximately 300+ rolls were collected, way to go Boerne Community!  Then over a couple of days toilet paper Andy was constructed with the help of a few 'servants' from church.  Using the obvious, toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls attached together with floral wire and then stabalized with rebarb and a heavy gauge but yet flexible wire.  Then my sweet, patient husband Shawn McClelland hung Andy using fishing line by throwing a ball way up into the rafters.  Andy is 16 feet tall!!!!

You may be asking who is Andy?  Where does that name come from?  In the word "Spring" for Spring Creek United Methodist Church you will notice a man like figure coming out of the word "Spring", this man like figure is named Andy.  Andy is short for androgynous, to demonstrate that it represented everyone and was gender neutral.  And now SCUM has a toilet paper Andy.

We'd love for you to come see TP Andy, it will be on display through March 6.

Below are some pictures to show the making of TP Andy (some were taken with my phone so the clarity isnt necessarily the best but you get the idea).  Enjoy.

As a thank you to those who so graciously 'donated' their toilet paper or paper towel rolls they were given a thank you note on a square of toilet paper.  Something fun that went along with the theme.

Five Practices of Fruitful Living

The first sermon series of this year was Five Practices of Fruitful Living.  The vision for the design in the Sanctuary for this was the use of vines, branches and fruit.  With some inspiration from various people and places the idea took off and this is what we did.

These pictures of the fruit topiaries were assembled using a glue gun, placing the fruit around the styrofoam forms and then gluing in between the fruits moss.  These were placed on the Communion table.

This is the final product after all the pieces were placed and set up in the Sanctuary.

Each week the corner was changed to reflect the topic of the week, that's what the below pictures show.

Our church has lots of talent but this particular time Gina De Los Santos helped with the fruit paintings.  One of them had been seen in the background of a show I was watching, I researched it, printed a copy of one and asked Gina if she could help me with this four during this particular sermon series and she graciously did.  Each week a new poster was added.  Thank you Gina!
